“God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them.”
1 John 4:16b
February has become known as the month of love so I thought it fitting on this first day of February to reflect on the meaning of true love. And I realize that if I want to know anything about love I must go to the source.
So I pour over the pages of the holy book, read for myself the greatest love story ever written. And I pray that the Creator, the One who IS love, will teach me how to love.
“We love because he first loved us.”
1 John 4:19
I invite you to join me this week for Follow Me Fridays.
We all know what to do to take care of our physical hunger. But what about the spiritual kind?
Scripture is clear. Nothing in this world can satisfy the longings of a hungry, thirsty soul. There is only One who can fill that sort of emptiness.
Then Jesus declared, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty. John 6:35
Praising God today for his greatness and his love and the fact that he never changes. My hope is secure in the One who is “from everlasting to everlasting”.
A heart at peace gives life to the body…Proverbs 14:30a
More and more research is telling us that stress can be detrimental to our health. The Bible has an answer for this, of course.
In Him, we can trade in the stress for rest.
Here is His promise:
“These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer,
I have overcome the world.” John 16:33
Lord, in spite of the troubles we may be facing today, help us to trust in you. We ask that you would cover us in your peace, realizing that just as you have overcome the world, you are able to help us do the same. Amen.

When our desire is to know God, to seek His heart, to live in the center of His perfect will, another look at Romans 12:2 is a helpful reminder of how to do just that.
Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.
Today I pray the Lord will help us to turn away from world-conforming ways and turn toward His life-transforming Word, shedding the camouflage and allowing ourselves to be clothed in His righteousness so that the beauty of His presence can be clearly seen in our lives.
