Ahhh, Autumn

I took one step outside my front door last night and my heart began to flutter with the excitement of a child on Christmas Eve. With a kiss of the cool breeze on my cheek, I was instantly aware that my favorite season is about to make its presence known.

At just the hint of Autumn, my mood shifts, my heart lifts and my cares seem to drift away. Maybe it’s the beauty of nature, vibrant colors, the sun casting a softer glow, the crisp air…or maybe it’s the enticing smell of fresh-baked goodies at every turn, the thundering sound of enthusiastic fans gathering for long-awaited football games or the sheer joy of wrapping myself up in a cozy sweater with a good book and a cup of hot cocoa (with whipped cream, of course).

The truth is, when Autumn arrives, it brings with it a taste of nostalgia. Recalling the newness, the fresh hope that has come with each recurring season of my life, makes me feel young again. That same feeling of expectancy washes over me, and inspiration once again comes easy.

Thank you, Lord, for allowing me to experience this season where my senses come alive and my heart breathes a contented sigh. For this and all your gifts, I am humbly grateful.
