The One Cure For What We Crave

You and I, we were born hungry. Hungry for hope.

And this gnawing ache of the soul cannot be denied.

We could spend our whole lives searching for substitutes, sampling every measly morsel that falls our way.

But why scrounge for crumbs when there’s bread at the table?

It’s like the question the angels asked the women at the tomb after the resurrection –

“Why do you look for the living among the dead?”
Luke 24:5

We can’t afford to waste time looking for hope where hope does not exist.

There is only One who can fill that hunger. Only One cure for what we crave.

Jesus, the Living Bread.

We will never be satisfied with anything less.

Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life;
he who comes to Me will not hunger,
and he who believes in Me will never thirst.
John 6:35

I’m sure you’ve heard about the movie Son of God opening this weekend. Below is a short video highlighting scenes from the movie with a song by the band For King & Country, appropriately entitled Crave. Enjoy!

  1. I watched the series on tv and saw the movie at the theaters. I cry every time! It’s the brutality of man that makes my stomach hurt, but the fact that we are save makes me weep! Amen.

  2. Hi Angel! I saw what part of the post Debbie liked, me too! But the sentence that hit me the most was: “We can’t afford to waste time looking for hope where hope does not exist.” And I do that all the time! What is safe and done before seems preferable to leaving it for something that might actually work. So crazy.

I look forward to seeing this movie. I think we should all support efforts to get out the Good News! I loved The Bible, so I’m sure I’ll love this too.

    • Thanks Ceil! Yes, it’s interesting how we humans operate isn’t it? And I agree – We should support any efforts to spread the Good News!

  3. I love the part: Why scrounge for crumbs when there is bread on the table? I need to write that down because I’m honestly and truly guilty of scrounging at times.

I have heard of that movie and want to see it. I hope my husband and I can get away to do just that. (We’ve been crazy busy going back and forth between here and Atlanta trying to clean out his mother’s home and settle her estate. Very difficult for a all the obvious reasons.)

    • Thanks for taking time to visit Debbie! Especially in light of how busy life is right now and the difficulties you’ve been challenged with recently. I pray you and your husband will be able to take a breath soon and relax a bit. Sounds like you’ve definitely earned it. Blessings!
