Feasting on Thanks at The Harvest Party

It’s Harvest Party Wednesday and I’ve been thinking…

Isn’t it interesting that a month centered on giving thanks coincides with the month that ushers in growing reports of depression in people?

If you’re there, go here to AHolyExperience.com and read more about how writing down things you’re grateful for can help.

Because, when you really think about it, we all have some reason to be thankful. Sometimes, we just need a reminder.

So here’s another creative way to count blessings…Read about the 5 kernels of corn idea at StoneGableBlog.com

Or how about baking thanks right into the thanksgiving meal with these Gratitude Rolls from BeautyandBedlam.com

Let’s learn to be grateful so that we can teach the next generation how to be. Here are 10 ways from TheBetterMom.com.

  1. Hi Angel! It’s funny, but the sun is shining like crazy, and the leaves on the trees are just shining…the gloom of November lifted today. But I know what you mean…instead of feeling down, I usually just feel like hibernating with a good book and some tea.

I am thankful that my sister and her husband are coming to stay the weekend with us today. Lots of sister and family fun time. Yay!
    Have a good weekend, Angel!

  2. Angel, of late, I’ve been giving a lot of thought about counting my blessings. Something that’s so easy to do in good times, but not so easy when things aren’t going well. But we do have so much to be thankful for and God’s word says to give thanks in all circumstances. (And who wouldn’t be cheerful after seeing the photo of that adorable baby?)

    • So true Joan. Sometimes easier said than done, but God keeps helping us learn to be thankful in all things. Blessings!

  3. Reminds me of that song, “Wherever We Go, That’s Where the Party’s At”…. that was always my theme song, and when I became disabled and chronically ill, I thought I had to find a new song. Thank God, that is far from the truth!! Lovely post today!

  4. At one time I would have said that it’s the gray and gloom of the heavy November skies that causes the depression. But….my understanding is that the very root of depression is anger. [sigh] This stuff is never easy is it? Or is it? Because..you are so right. There is something truly amazing about giving thanks. (And it is easy.) About taking the time to write out items of gratitude…count gift. Sometimes I just thank God for who is he and all is attributes…other times…the large and small from my day. It really is transforming. And I know this through personal experience. Without a thankful heart it’s easy to get upset (angry?) and have a pity party. With a thankful heart…there’s no need for the party. 😉
This is a great post and I love all the links and suggestions for creating thankful moments!!
